Translation and Psychometric Testing of the Arabic Version of the Problematic Media Use Measure Short Form for Children

Background. There is growing concerns that excessive use of media among children will become problematic. Research on the management children’s problematic would be improved if screening tools are widely applied. Problematic Media Use Measure Short Form (PMUM-SF) was developed to screen 4- 11-year-old US children. Purpose. The study aimed at developing and validating a cross-cultural version PMUM-SF for in Arabic-talking parents from age 3 13 years. Design. Cross-cultural adaptation cross-sectional psychometric testing study. Methods. Using World Health Organization (WHO) framework instrument translation adaptation, translated, back pretested, reviewed by committee. tested 180 aging Results. results demonstrated Arabic had high reliability (Cronbach’s alpha 0.90); it has good convergent predictive validity. factor structure confirmed through exploratory confirmatory analysis (comparative fit index CFI = 0.93 ; goodness id="M2"> GFI 0.90 incremental id="M3"> IFI ). Conclusion. Because seems reliable valid assessing Arabic-speaking parents, this translated recommended future research.
